Ram Mandir Construction: Ayodhya to witness the presence of Lord Rama, again

On August 5, Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation of Ram Mandir with a 40 kg silver brick. The honorable PM stated that for every Indian, 5th August is as important as 15th August.

The Ram Mandir has been a big controversy in the country for the past 25+ years, since the demolition of Babri Masjid in 1992. The country had been divided into two groups- Ram Mandir or Babri Masjid.

Congress was the government with majority then and couldn’t take the decision between Ram Mandir or Babri Masjid. Even when Atal Bihari Vaypayee became the prime minister, he couldn’t initiate the construction of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. Like PM Modi, he too had proposed the Ram Mandir and Article 370. But since his government didn’t have the majority, the proposals remained proposals only.

Since the demolition of Babri Masjid, the BJP government didn’t have the majority till the last few years. During the Congress government, the Ram Mandir never remained a priority or their main agenda. But things started to change when Narendra Modi became the prime minister in 2014. Of course, he too didn’t have the majority till the last year. In 2019 when he became the PM again, his party became the one with a majority. This is when the Ram Mandir project became a priority and it was brought into the sights of the Supreme Court.

A year later, the controversy of Ram Mandir has now been sorted out. This temple has gone through several types of events, including historical, cultural, religious, and political. The entire country is happy. But there are a few questions that arose during the recent events.

Is Ram Mandir really that important?

Could we wait for the construction of Ram Mandir till the end of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic?

Could the government wait till the economy of the country gets better?

Should we stop counting the Ram Mandir model among the achievements of the BJP government and make our voting decisions on other parameters?

There are numerous questions like these, but the answers are only based on different points of views and individual opinions.

Talking about the importance of Ram Mandir, yes, it is really important in certain ways. The sentiments of Hindus are highly attached to the Lord Rama, whose birth place is Ayodhya. Second, it was a big matter for the last few decades which needed to be sorted out. And the time has finally come now.

Should the government wait till the end of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic to start the construction? Of course, they could wait. But there is no due date of ending COVID-19 pandemic. This is completely uncertain. The country hasn’t yet created the vaccine for this deadly disease. Since the timeframe of the end of pandemic is uncertain, it makes sense to start it now.

Moreover, if the government waits for a couple of years more to start the construction, the chances are that the next election might not see the BJP government as a majority in the country. The decision of construction might change and things might become unsorted again. So, it is better to simplify things and let things happen with the Ram Mandir model.

Economy of India is already suffering because of the pandemic. What about the cost of construction? Yes, the economy is struggling and a huge cost is attached to this temple’s construction. But other major temples of India and people are also contributing to it. The economy wouldn’t be affected much.

Along with other temples, many celebrities, spiritual gurus, politicians and Ram bhakts from all over the world are donating for the Ram Mandir construction. As per a report by PTI, the Ram Mandir trust is accepting support and donations from all the devotees with no terms and conditions applicable.

Another trending question related to Ram Mandir constructions is that the BJP government might take the credit and count it among their achievements. This might affect the elections in future and help the government to retain its place. There are around three years left for the next elections. The opposition has plenty of time to prove themselves and come into effect. Also, the youth of the country is more interested in the development of the country as a whole and the new employment opportunities.

The debate around the Ram Mandir construction should stop now as the things are running with the flow. It took many years for something to take a final decision on. We must respect that and let things happen without any interruption. The major part of the country is happy. Let’s stop dragging the Ram Mandir into political events. Furthermore, once the construction is over, Ayodhya will become a tourism spot and help the country in economy.

What are your thoughts on the Ram Mandir model and ongoing construction?
