Interview With James Peifer, Author of ‘Just Call Me Jim’
1. Let’s begin with a brief introduction of yours and an overview of your book: “Just Call Me Jim”.
Imagine what you might do if a stranger visited with you and offered to provide you with extraordinary powers— to use as you may like.
Would you use those powers to enhance your personal well-being? Would you make changes in the world for the benefit of the underprivileged?
What would you do? How would you use it?
These extraordinary powers were offered to the protagonist in the story of my book Just Call Me Jim. He chose to use these powers for peaceful purposes and for the benefit of mankind.
2. From where did you get the idea behind the story of “Just Call Me Jim”? Do the characters come from real-life incidents or from your own imagination?
I was inspired to write the story while watching a program on TV in May of 2021. The program documented several events that featured reports from commercial airline pilots, Navy ships, and Air Force fighter pilots with sightings of Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs).
A guest on the program, a former director of the Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program, stipulated that the sightings were verified by the Pentagon. The director asked the host of the program to imagine a technology that could do 700 G-forces, fly 13,000 miles an hour, evade radar, and fly through air and water without any obvious signs of propulsion.
The extraterrestrials are characters of my imagination. Many characterizations of UFOs in movies and books have made them out to be threatening and destructive to humans. I chose to make the extraterrestrials peaceful and with a mission to help mankind.
Other characters in the book are people that I have known in my life. The characters and titles of many government officials are based on real-life government officeholders.
3. We will love to know about the primary protagonist of the story. What is he trying to achieve?
Jim Vincent, the primary protagonist, was chosen by the visiting extraterrestrials to partner with them. The extraterrestrials came to Earth in peace. Their purpose was to choose an Earthling partner or partners to help eradicate evils on Earth.
The extraterrestrials had been monitoring life on Earth since the detonation of the atomic bomb, by Americans, in 1945. They had growing concerns that recent global conflicts and increases in nuclear weapons proliferation were becoming a threat to the existence of mankind.
They chose Vincent because he met their criteria for an Earthling partner. Vincent was a retired businessman and a war veteran. He had seen enough misery, suffering, and destruction in combat to know that he only wanted to pursue peaceful ways.
He also saw that the development and misuse of technology in social media companies was a threat to freedom. He explained the threat of the social media companies to the extraterrestrials, and they agreed to help him eliminate the threat.
4. In the story, you mentioned extraterrestrials. Who are they and why social media companies are their target?
The extraterrestrials were visiting the Earth from faraway planets in the galaxy. They possessed advanced technologies that do not exist on Earth. They have helped other worlds in the galaxy advance in technology and in peaceful ways and that was also their mission for Earth.
Their new Earth partner, the protagonist in the story, guided them to focus on social media companies and the nations possessing nuclear weapons.
5. You have mentioned in the book the crimes and wrongdoings of US-based government agencies. What sort of crimes were on your focus and why?
Suspected criminal activities conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) are now under investigation, in committee hearings, by the United States Congress.
Media publications have focused on FBI wrongdoing. See – A Federalist article published on June 27, 2022, “FBI Raids Target Democrats’ Political Foes Instead of True Criminals”.
In addition, see – A report from the House Judiciary Committee, on September 29, 2022, stated, “FBI allegedly engaging in ‘purge’ of conservatives, retaliating against whistleblowers”.
6. What sort of reviews are you getting from the readers?
Overall, the reviews have been very positive. Many female readers seem to enjoy the personal stories of the characters. They do not care for the volume of statistics notated in the book.
On the other hand, many male readers enjoy the statistics and the historical facts, as well as the personal stories of the characters.
7. Can you talk about any challenges you faced while writing this book?
Learning how to develop and use dialogue. Developing the proper flow of events throughout the story.
