One Arranged Murder Book Review: Chetan Bhagat’s Novel

One Arranged Murder book is the story of two friends- Keshav and Saurabh, who are business partners for an investigation agency. Both are also colleagues and flatmates. Saurabh gets engaged to Prerna, where he gets more into her than his best friend Keshav and the work. Keshav is not happy with what’s going on with Saurabh and makes fun of both Saurabh and Prerna. Since Prerna and Saurabh are about to get married, Saurabh takes the mocking seriously and stops talking to Keshav.

Prerna keeps a fast for Saurabh on Karwa Chauth and waits for the moon to appear before eating anything. She waits for Saurabh at the terrace to see him and break the fast. Saurabh is excited to see her, but when he reaches there, she is not there. She has been murdered.

Keshav and Saurabh now are personally involved in a case of investigation to find who is the murderer. Both are still amateur in the investigation and are emotionally attached to the case.

The One Arranged Murder book is a good pick for all the fans of Chetan Bhagat and who likes reading stories about friendship and love. But if you are reading this book for a pure crime thriller, then this wouldn’t be the right choice for you. You can categorize this book as romantic suspense or something like that.

Even author Chetan Bhagat himself has said that it’s not a hardcore crime novel. The author has just added a touch of crime to a regular love story. As always, the language of Chetan Bhagat’s latest book is quite simple and easy to read. I like this thing about him, as he aims to make the book readable for even the readers who are below average with English.

Wouldn’t say that I thoroughly enjoyed reading Chetan Bhagat’s book, but it was a good read. I found his old books like Three Mistakes of My Life and Revolution 2020 better. But it seems that Chetan Bhagat is trying to change his original genre a bit, moving into thrillers and suspense, which was also the case with his previous book- Girl in Room 105.

To sum up, I’ve rated the book 3.5/5, as it is a decent book by the standards of someone like Chetan Bhagat.
