Interview with Sahil Kumar Nagpal
1. Let’s begin with a brief introduction of yours and an overview of your book: Life the Way You Design.
My name is Sahil Kumar Nagpal and I am an author, researcher, and life coach. I give corporate training, conduct workshops, and give one-to-one personal coaching on the functioning of the human body & mind and what is the true human potential.
I am a black belt in the traditional full-contact style of karate called Kan Zen Ryu and freestyle kickboxing. Under the guidance of Gurdev Nagar Singh Nihang, I also train and teach an ancient battlefield art called Sanatan Shastra Vidiya.
I am a certified Marma and Prana Vidiya healer. I am a certified level 2 Yoga and Wellness Teacher from the Indian Government body India Yoga Association(IYA).
For the past 12 years, I have been researching in the field of physiology and psychology. Some of my research has been in the field of ancient Sciences like Yoga, Tantra, Vedanta, Sankhya, Nyaya, etc for the past 7 years.
As part of training in Sanatan Shastra Vidiya, we have to study Shastra and Shaastra. My fundamental research is of recognizing true human potential and discovering various methods to unleash that potential.
Life The Way You Design Book
Life The Way You Design is an amalgamation of modern sciences of physiology & psychology and ancient sciences of Yoga, Tantra & Vedanta.
The book explains how an individual is the designer of his or her own life and how by taking charge of certain aspects of life like body, mind, and prana(energy) one can take precise control of his or her life.
The book is divided into 9 chapters and it is written in a way where a concept is explained in great detail and the reference of that particular concept in modern sciences and ancient sciences is also mentioned. Recent research and experiments done by various scientists and researchers globally are also mentioned in the book.
Different case studies of people who have used such concepts and have gained success in their life are also mentioned in the book. At the end of each chapter, some practices are mentioned so that the reader can induce that practice in their daily life and change their life for good.
Life The Way You Design book is the first of its kind, mostly all the authors and coaches are trained in Eastern philosophy many of them come to India to learn under some Guru or stay in an Ashram but never before a book that covers a great detail on the common Grounds of East and West has been written.
2. What exactly were your thoughts and inspiration behind writing the ‘Life the Way You Design’ book?
The content of the book is something that I was already teaching and training to my clients and to my students. It is something that I have been living for a very long time.
But during the lockdown, I felt the need to create something that in my absence can do my job of making people realize their true human potential and how to unleash it and so I decided to write this book.
The book is written in very plain English so that even a layman can read and understand.

3. How much time did you take to finish the manuscript? Did you follow any writing routine?
As I said, the content is something that I was already teaching so it didn’t take a long time to complete the book.
It took me around 6 months to write the book but it took me around more than a decade or even one can say half a lifetime to gather the content given in the book.
Most of the content I have written during Sandhya Kaal, that is in the evening and under the crescent moon. The best experience was while writing under the moon.
4. Could you please share five benefits of reading ‘Life the Way You Design’, especially for the millennials today?
The book is written in a way that can be useful to people of all generations. However, it will be extremely useful for millennials.
The younger generation needs to understand their true potential what they are capable of doing and what they are actually doing, they can understand how most of the life is wasted in creating a particular mental construct and how actually most of these mental constructs are the biggest obstacle in achieving a person’s true potential and his or her goal.
The problem in society is that before understanding the functioning of our body-mind and prana(energy) people try to achieve their goals and try to design their life but they do not study thoroughly the tools that are used in creating this life that are our body, mind, and energy.
Everything that we perceive and every action that we take and the in-between process that is the thought process is the major determining factor of what our life will be and the tools that govern this process are our body, mind, and energy.
If an individual before trying to achieve his or her goal thoroughly studies the tools and how to use this tool in an optimum way then one can get a precise result of their every effort, it is very much practical and scientific isn’t it?
- Understanding of how we are actually creating our life, consciously or unconsciously
- The tools that are used in this process and how to keep them sharp
- Art of creating opportunities even from a negative situation
- Methods of developing Self Control
- Insight of immensity of your true self

5. What sort of reviews are you getting from the readers?
People’s feedback is that their understanding of life and what their role is in creating life has increased. Clarity towards life is increased; they are more inspired and more equipped. Especially in this tough time, this book is an anchor that keeps them grounded.
6. You were running a successful IT business but chose to drop it to study the human mind and life. How difficult was it for you to make such a big decision?
So in 2009, I started my IT business along with my already running real estate business. I was having my head office in Vadodara and sales offices in Ahmedabad, Surat, Bharuch, Ankleshwar, and Vapi. I was leading a team of around 25 employees and was dealing with more than 350 clients.
Just out of curiosity I used to study human psychology. I was already into martial arts so I had a little understanding of physiology. I explored various methods of increasing my potential only to realize later that potential is already there only we have overburdened it and made it limited.
The study of human physiology and psychology helped me a lot thoroughly but still, there was something missing and at one point in time. I felt like I needed to realize myself before doing anything, it should be my topmost priority. And so I handed all my business to my very good friend and partner.
But however, it wasn’t like one shot because we were dealing with many clients. It took me almost a year to get out of the IT business completely until then income was ok but then because I wasn’t doing any business I needed to earn so my sensei asked me to start coaching. This is how I came into the coaching and training business officially.
One thing I must say is that when you are in the course of learning, the basic necessities are taken care of.
7. I would like to ask a few questions to the Life and Wellness Coach Sahil Kumar Nagpal:
– What are your thoughts on perfection? Is it a myth?
Perfection is a mental construct. The fact is that there is always scope for improvement. However, I must say that perfection is about the right quantity, right quality, right time, right place, and the right situation.
– What little things can a person do daily to love and be good to himself?
In order to love yourself or be good to yourself or to anyone, just do this one thing or must I say don’t do this one thing- comparing yourself to others.
Comparing yourself with other people and then feeling bad about it or feeling good about it, one way or the other is counterproductive.
Looking down on anyone or looking up to anyone is the biggest reason for our misery. Everyone has some plus points and some minus points so don’t look at other people’s good qualities and feel bad about it, just know your pluses and minuses and try to convert your minuses into pluses and also keep maintaining your pluses.

– How do you make wellness a priority?
Wellness is something that is already a priority in everybody’s life. If you carefully look at any person whether he or she is a beggar or a top-class businessman, he or she is looking to make his or her life better. It is just that some people are looking in the wrong place and some people are looking through the wrong lens.
Even a person who is constantly whining about everything unconsciously thinks that this will give him or her pleasure. What an individual needs to do is clear this lens and then look at the right place. One needs to understand how different factors affect our Wellness and our life and how to take charge of those aspects.
Being in sync with nature’s cycle that is eating on time and shitting on time, sleeping on time and getting up on time doing the activity at right time, and taking rest at right time is the most basic thing one needs to do for optimum wellness.
In short, one needs to learn how to be in sync with mother nature and how to consume everything in balance.

– What, according to you, is the Law of Attraction? Does it really work?
Law of Attraction is actually the same thing that I am talking about in my book but when we talk about the law of attraction that is explained in the book The Secret or the movie The Secret then most of the content is about mental efforts.
Physical efforts are also needed doesn’t matter how powerful you are and yes it does work given you follow the rules of mother nature which means that if you strongly wish you can reach anywhere in the world but that doesn’t mean that you can jump and go there.
8. A quick-fire round:
– Books that have influenced your life?
I wouldn’t say book but I would say Shiv Samhita Shastra actually took me on entirely a different level. It is a treatise on Tantra and is a conversation between Shiva & Parvati.
– What are your other passions in life?
Well, whatever I do I try to do it passionately and I do not restrict myself to one or two activities. Apart from my study & research and practice of martial arts I also do paint sometimes, create some showpieces, and also create different courses which I will release in the future and also write books on it.
I also study and research the science of temples, indigenous cultures, and basically everything that has hidden science behind it.
– The best bit of writing advice you’ve ever heard?
I actually didn’t, however, I heard a great line in a song that I could relate to when I was writing this book.
The line is of a rap song called Ghetto Gospel by 2 Pac Shakur which goes like “I feel his hands on my brain, when I write rhymes I go blind and let the Lord do his thing”. The line itself explains a lot, and when you write like this it feels like you are in Samadhi.

– Do you have any role models? If so, who are they?
I don’t think like that anymore, I try to learn from different people but I don’t idolize anyone anymore. But there was a time when I was highly inspired by Eminem & 50 Cent.
– A line said by your close one that you never forget?
There are many such lines, I will share one that my father shared with me in my early school days. He said, “Never be afraid of anyone’s strong build-up and never underestimate anyone who looks slim or weak”.
He gave me this advice during school days so that I could protect myself against any bully and also save myself from becoming a bully. But how is it relevant today? One should not be afraid of any situation just because it looks tough and also one should not be ignorant enough to take small situations for granted. We never know how things can turn out.
If one is ignorant one can lose an opportunity and if one is aware enough one can even turn a challenging situation into an opportunity.
9. What’s next in the roadmap for Sahil Kumar Nagpal? When do we expect the next part of your book?
The next part will probably be released by March/April of 2022. Also, there are other books in the pipeline on other genres like management, spirituality, health & wellness, etc.
Depending upon the situation we will also take our training & coaching programs globally starting from Europe & Australia. We have already started the work but are waiting on the next move of the Coronavirus.
